Arrival and exploration: the airport to Kandy

As soon as you land at the airport you will be met by one of our friendly representatives from Sri Lanka Specialisten, who will be holding a sign with your name and accompany you to your transfer. Whether you continue by car or bus, we ensure your Sri Lanka adventure gets off to a smooth start.

First stop: Pinnawala. Your adventure begins with a visit to the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala, located about 89 km from Colombo, along the scenic Colombo–Kandy road. The facility was established in 1975 and provides a home for orphaned and injured elephants. See the gentle giants at feeding at 09.30–10.00 and 13.30–14.00, and enjoy their playful bathing at 10.00–10.30 and 14.00–14.30 as they splash in the nearby river.

Arrival in Kandy and city tour. Afterwards you will immerse yourself in Sri Lanka's cultural heart – Kandy. As the last stronghold of the Kingdom of Kandy until the British annexation in 1815, Kandy carries a rich heritage shaped by Buddhism. Explore its temples, shrines and monasteries, and don't miss the venerable Temple of the Tooth, which preserves a sacred relic of the Buddha.

Nature's wonders: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Admire the magnificent Ramboda Falls, Sri Lanka's eleventh highest waterfall, plunging 109 meter. Then delve into the craft of tea with a visit to a local tea factory and plantation, where you will learn more about Sri Lanka's famous tea industry.

Explore Nuwara Eliya. Known as Sri Lanka's "Little England", the town charms with picturesque landscapes of mountains, valleys and tea plantations. Stroll among British colonial architecture and enjoy the atmosphere of this hill resort.

Visit Seetha Amman Temple. Step into ancient mythology with a visit to Seetha Amman Temple, where the Ramayana legend comes alive. Discover the sacred sites associated with Sita's captivity by King Ravana, set among the tranquil beauty of the ashoka forests.

Return to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya for a peaceful night's sleep.

Bentota

Coastal calm: Nuwara Eliya to Bentota

After breakfast you travel onwards to the coastal gem Bentota.

Meet sea turtles in Kosgoda. At the turtle hatchery in Kosgoda you will see the conservation work to protect Sri Lanka's sea turtles from extinction. Learn about their life cycle and release baby turtles into the sea to support their journey to adulthood.

Cruise on the Madu Ganga River. Set out on a boat trip along the enchanting Madu Ganga River, a haven of mangroves and islands. Explore the diverse ecosystem – from exotic flora and fauna to charming villages. Immerse yourself in local culture and see cinnamon cultivation and traditional shrimp fishing.

Enjoy a peaceful evening at your hotel in Bentota, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the coastal landscape.

Day4

City exploration: Bentota to Colombo

After breakfast you head to Colombo for a day of exploration and shopping.

Discover Colombo's charm. Join a city tour of Colombo that takes you through bustling business districts and leafy residential areas. Explore historic landmarks such as Fort, Sea Street and the Pettah bazaar, with their intricate architecture and vibrant culture. Don't miss BMICH, the Avukana Buddha replica and Independence Square, all of which reflect Sri Lanka's rich history and heritage.

Shopping for all tastes. Spend the afternoon shopping and browse a wide range of shops and markets offering everything from local handicrafts to designer labels.

Return to your hotel in Colombo and let the impressions of the day sink in.
